The Luminary Receives First NEA Grant
We are excited to announce that The Luminary has received its first ever grant from the National Endowment for the Arts!
After an extremely competitive process that drew 1,474 applications from around the nation, The Luminary has been recommended to receive $20,000 to support our Residency Program and is the only Visual Arts awardee in the State of Missouri! The funds will go to support the production of new projects by 15-20 artists and curators from around the world who will come to St. Louis to participate in the program in 2015. The residency program offers participants studios, housing, stipends and the support they need to realize ambitious new work, experiment with their practice and engage with the St. Louis community.
NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, "I'm pleased to be able to share the news of our support through Art Works including the award to The Luminary. The arts foster value, connection, creativity and innovation for the American people and these recommended grants demonstrate those attributes and affirm that the arts are part of our everyday lives."
