Earlier this year, the LITAL (Last in the American League) compilation-- a two LP set with an accompanying book of collaborative art-- was released to serve as a time capsule of the 2014 St. Louis music and arts scene. But LITAL as an organization seeks to play a bigger part in our community by continuously creating new collaborations and promoting the STL music and arts scene.
Last in the American League has partnered with The Luminary to present LAB: LITAL on August 28th at The Luminary. This event will exemplify LITAL's (and Vanilla Ice's) mantra, Collaborate and Listen by showcasing new musical talent in St. Louis The Free Years and The Leonas, as well as seasoned band The Vanilla Beans. Headlining the event will be one of the acts on the LITAL LP, St. Louis hip hop artist Mvstermind. Local DJ duo European Soccer will play the LITAL LPs all through the evening and close out the night with a celebratory dance party. Around each corner of the gallery, artwork from the LITAL art book will be projected on the walls, creating an illuminating and enveloping environment for attendees to experience local art and music. Attendees will also be invited to take part in a live piece of artwork being created throughout the night by a featured LITAL artist.
In addition to showcasing local music and art, LAB: LITAL will raffle off items from beloved local businesses The Ready Room, Snake Bite, Music Record Shop, The Royale and STL- Style. Plus, free 'dones' from Strange Donuts will be given to the first 50 attendees. In order to move on and promote the ever-changing St. Louis music and arts scene, LITAL will have its limited-stock merchandise for sale at reduced prices, including the LITAL LP and art book compilation.
