The Luminary | Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) artist resourcing institution located in a historic former Convent in St. Louis, MO. The Luminary’s Residency Program supports exceptional emerging artists by providing dedicated time and a supportive working environment including well-equipped studios, an individually structured professional development program and dedicated financial support.

Residency Program Application

Please submit the application below to be considered for The Luminary's Residency Program. Once the form is submitted, you will receive a confirmation with a payment link for your application fee. The application fee must be paid in order for your application to be considered.
  • Residency Information

  • The Luminary Residency Program supports work at all stages, from development to production and beyond. Please let us know why you are interested in a residency at The Luminary and what you hope to gain from that experience.
  • Support

The Luminary has an evolving but finite amount of support we can offer to residents each session. In order for us to allocate those resources and funds most effectively, we ask each applicant to ‘request’ aid based solely on need and designate ‘required’ support only when absolutely necessary to participate in the residency. Support requests are used as guidelines for what may be provided, but are not guaranteed upon acceptance. Additionally, please keep in mind if you require support we do not currently have available, we may have to deny your application based on that circumstance.
  • Based on your statement of intent, please let us know what materials and equipment you may need to use or purchase during you residency stay:
  • In addition to production support, The Luminary also assists each resident with customized professional development assistance. Please list any professional development needs you may have during your residency (from writing exhibition proposals to website building workshops, etc.):
  • Information About the Artist

Collaborative teams must submit individual resumes or curriculum vitae.

Visual arts applicants should submit an artist statement that discusses their own work.

Please submit 10 images or 5 minutes of video of example work from the last two years.
Images should be sized to 1000px wide, 72dpi, .jpg and .png files accepted.
