Designing the Underground: DIY Print in St. Louis
Designing the Underground: DIY Print in St. Louis
October 11, 2024 -
December 15, 2024
Featuring zines, pamphlets, prints, and posters from over 30 artists and designers working out of St. Louis, Designing the Underground offers a look into the publishing practices that make and are made by the ecosystem of design and publication in St. Louis. This exhibition exists as a site of connection for publishers, artists, and writers, with seemingly disparate practices.
Ephemera from concerts and open mics, artist books, how-to and community submission zines, all identify both physical and textual spaces for gathering and sharing of information. These spaces create a community of intersecting audiences nurtured by one another.
We invite guests to use the xerox machine and empty shelves in the exhibition to print their own material and share it as a part of the exhibition. While offering space to demonstrate models of publishing possible in St. Louis, we welcome use of this exhibition as a platform for publication, knowledge and resource sharing, and mapping further places to gather.
