We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as Gallery Manager at The Luminary in St. Louis, MO. This full-time position offers the chance to play a pivotal role in the management of exhibitions, residencies, public programs, and more, while contributing to the day-to-day operations of a vibrant contemporary art space.

 

About the Position: Gallery Manager


The Gallery Manager will work closely with the Artistic and Executive Director to manage exhibitions, oversee gallery operations, and ensure a positive visitor experience. This role requires a highly organized, personable individual with strong project management and communication skills, who is passionate about contemporary art and committed to artist-centered programming.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Exhibition & Program Management: Assist with exhibition planning, logistics, artist support, and event coordination. Oversee the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions.

  • Facilities & Studio Management: Ensure the smooth operation of gallery maintenance, artist studio rentals, and management of vendor/contractor services.

  • Visitor Experience & Community Engagement: Create a welcoming gallery environment, manage gallery operations, and support venue rentals and community partnerships.

  • Administrative Support: Assist with artist residency coordination, materials for press and promotion, and The Luminary’s annual regranting initiative.

What We’re Looking For


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in gallery management, exhibition coordination, or a related field.

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to handle multiple logistics.

  • Experience with art handling, installation, and familiarity with exhibition management tools is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills and a passion for contemporary art and community engagement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $45,000 annually

  • Benefits: Paid vacation, professional development stipend, and a competitive healthcare plan (75% employer-paid after 90 days).
