Please join us this 2/14 for, “Dissecting ourselves, piecing it together: a collage healing experience”, an event lead by artist Lu Ray, from 5:30-7:30pm.

This Valentines Day we will get raw and real in community. We will begin with a discussion humanizing hurt and healing. We will learn about how art as therapy can help us process grief, explore new ideas, and imagine a better future. Guests will bring themselves, a blanket/quilt to sit on, some snacks/drinks, their stories, and a desire to create. If you have special pictures or scraps you are welcome to bring those too. Artist, Lu Ray, will provide tools to make an art piece that you will be able to take home at the end of the workshop. Come single, or with someone you love.

Participants will be able to identify feelings and connect them to visual symbols.

Participants will be able to engage in art making with mindfulness and sensitivity.

Participants will reflect upon their relationship with love during this session of art as therapy.

Lu Ray is a contemporary abstract artist focusing on the human figure, everyday objects, and gestural mark making. Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1997, Lu is a self taught ceramicist-illustrator-painter-rule-breaker. They are influenced by the relationships queer people have with their images and nature. They aim to tell stories through visual compositions while allowing open interpretations with abstraction. Their application of pattern and texture encourages viewers to stay for a while and ask questions.

Dissecting ourselves, piecing it together: a collage healing experience is a selected proposal from our 2023 Programs Open Call.
