Emerge: The Luminary’s Professional Development Series

Join us at CAM on Wednesday, 10/11/23 at 6 p.m. for Emerge’s first session with José Garza.

José will lead participants through strategies for contextualizing artwork, which is helpful for arts writing, criticism, and dialogue around your work and others.

This seminar will be an introduction to the interpretation of visual art and provide an opportunity to hone critical dialogue skills. The format will be informal and conversational and will rely on collaboration and co-creation to apply and expand on the basic concepts of interpretation. Be prepared to contribute through observation, discourse, and artmaking. No previous experience with art or art history is required.

About Emerge:

In 2022 The Luminary, in direct response to requests of the creative communities we serve, produced Emerge: a professional development workshop. This year, we are pleased to present the series in partnership with CAM that continues in 2023, and is held on each Second Wednesday from 6-8pm. The workshops, produced with local leaders in the field, provide emerging artists with vital tools and inside knowledge into the professional practices that go into exhibiting and selling art, managing creative business, and overall artistic development.

Tickets are free, with an option to donate. All donations go back to supporting The Luminary.
