Residency Highlight: Iker Sánchez Silva
Residency Highlight: Iker Sánchez Silva
This July, The Luminary was delighted to welcome Basque artist and conductor Iker Sánchez Silva for a two-week residency. During his time in our studios, Iker developed new works from his ongoing LILIK series, several of which later appeared at The Blue Hour gallery off Cherokee Street. His residency was marked by a spirit of focus, generosity, and connection with our community.
Born in Irun (Basque Country, Spain) and now based in San Sebastián, Iker has shown his paintings in solo and group exhibitions across Spain and beyond. Alongside his visual practice, Iker is also an acclaimed conductor, currently serving as artistic director of BilbaoSinfonietta and musical director of the opera company Opus Lírica. Whether through music or painting, his work builds bridges between disciplines and across borders — a resonance we were thrilled to host here in St. Louis.
