The Luminary invites emerging artists and creatives from a variety of backgrounds to join us in a guided comprehensive look into professional development practices and useful tools for career advancement within the arts.

 

Emerge: The Luminary’s Professional Development Series

The Luminary, in direct response to requests of the creative communities we serve, is pleased to announce Emerge: a professional development workshop series in Fall of 2022 held on each Third Thursday from 6-8pm. The workshops, produced with local leaders in the field, provide emerging artists with vital tools and inside knowledge into the professional practices that go into exhibiting and selling art, managing creative business, and overall artistic development.

The Luminary is offering three “pay-what-you-can” seminars over the next three months, held in person on Thursday evenings at The Luminary; Thursday, September 15, Thursday, October 20th, and Thursday, November 17th from 6-8pm:

September 15: Lauren Michelle Tracy, curatorial director of Houska Gallery will share best practices for exhibiting and selling work within a commercial gallery.

October 20: Kristin Fleischmann Brewer, deputy director of public engagement at The Pulitzer will workshop on artist contracts/agreements and how to work with a museum/public gallery.

November 17: Kaveh Razani, Director of Operations at St. Louis art place initiative, co-founder/co-owner of Blank Space, and co-owner Consortium Real Estate Group will lead a discussion on accounting and creative business management, along with Development, logistics, production, startup strategy.
