We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join our team as Deputy Director at The Luminary in St. Louis, MO. This full-time leadership role offers the chance to work at the intersection of contemporary art, public engagement, and nonprofit management while helping to shape the future of our programs and operations.

About the Position: Deputy Director
The Deputy Director will work closely with the Executive Director to manage grants, oversee financial systems, and collaborate across teams to support exhibitions, residencies, and public programs. This role requires a strategic, forward-thinking leader with expertise in nonprofit management, financial oversight, and program development.
Key responsibilities include:
Grants Management: Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, build relationships with funders, and ensure reporting compliance.
Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, financial reporting, and audits to align with the organization’s fiscal goals.
Program and Public Engagement Support: Strengthen audience engagement strategies and ensure the accessibility of public programs across exhibitions, residencies, and community partnerships.
Team Coordination: Foster collaboration across departments and provide mentorship to staff and interns.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
5+ years of experience in nonprofit management with a focus on grants writing, financial management, and program development
Experience working in contemporary art or a related cultural sector
Strong project management skills and a passion for improving accessibility in the arts
Exceptional communication abilities to advocate for The Luminary’s mission across stakeholders and communities
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000 annually
