Join us in welcoming exhibiting artist, Kiki Salem, to present Palestine-101: a history lesson at The Luminary, this Thursday (2/29) at 6pm.

The talk, beginning with archeological excavations that place humans with rituals on the land hundreds of thousands of years ago, coincides with Salem’s ongoing responsive cultural and organizing work around the question: “What can be done to combat cultural memoricide from place in diaspora or exile?” Salem will continue her research + development around this line of inquiry throughout the year as a resident of The Luminary.

Kiki Salem (b. 1995, Al-Bireh, Palestine) is a St. Louis-based multi-hyphenate Artist, Weaver, Designer, Sculptor, Writer, Educator, and Entrepreneur. Through various mediums, with textiles and material studies at the focus, her practice covers topics of escapism, experimental visual pattern development, linguistic hybridization, occidental assimilation, orientalism, and the Palestinian question. Kiki is a member of the Screwed Arts Collective in St. Louis. Her wearable collection, Punk Ass Arab (@punk_ass_arab) can be found on Instagram.
